Comptiq September '11

Comptiq September '11 issue was released in August, and featured a very nice cover with Saber, Saber Alter and Saber Extra in swimsuits.

Over two years had passed since I bought a Comptiq issue. As I said in previous entries, I don't buy magazines issues unless it includes some juicy extra. In this case, it includes a super deformed figure of Saber from Fate/EXTRA.

The figure is part of the figure line niitengo by Toy's Works, and is clearly an attempt to emulate Good Smile Company's nendoroid puchi line.

Compared side to side with a nendoroid petit, the proportions are a bit different; niitengo's head is smaller and the body is a bit bigger.
Quality wise, the nendoroid have a much better paint job and sculpt and personally I find the nendoroid line cuter than the niitengo.

This issue was supposed to contain lots of TYPE-MOON related news because of it's 10th anniversary, but the actual contents are not really that much:

The already on sale first season of Carnival Phantasm. I expect my copy soon...

Fate/Zero TV series will begin on October.

I knew this author for quite a while (his drawings are pretty unique) but this is the first time I read something by him.
In order to conmemorate the 10th anniversary of TYPE-MOON, Kohaku and Akiha leap back in time to the year 2003 and find the T-M characters of that time... In the picture, 2003 Satsuki is waiting for her route.
This is the 4th chapter and I missed the previous 3, so I hope they'll release a tankoubon of it.

Those where extras included in some Kotobukiya's garage kits that I bought in 2003, that are among the very first TYPE-MOON items that I purchased. I'm quite an old time fan, aren't I?

Origin of Type-Moon Comptiq booklet

Origin of TYPE-MOON was an extra booklet from Comptiq October '10 issue.

The main information is about Mahoutsukai No Yoru, with pictures that already appeared everywhere.

But the reason of my purchase is because this booklet is the only place were Takeuchi's rough sketches for Fate/EXTRA appears (at least for now):

February loot

Usually I receive two massive loots of Yahoo! Auctions winnings each year; one in February and another in October. The main reason is mostly to get the items from winter and summer Comic Markets (held in December and August, the two months delay is the time that takes to find all the comike items that I want) and since I have to pay for a massive shipment I also try to hunt down items from my wish list as well.

I had bad luck with this loot. First, I exceeded the storage time limit at Shopping Mall Japan, so part of the loot was auto-shipped and second, the items were held for customs clearance here in Spain. So at the end I paid extra fees and is not even the full loot T_T

Expect review of those in the following days, but let's begin with the 1/1 Len plush:

It was a limited release by Toranoana back in 2001, and was one of the first Tsukihime merchandise released.
I was searching it for years, and finally I was able to get it for under 7,000 yen (the original price tag was 3,000 yen), that is quite rare since until now I lost in bidding wars when the price exceeded the 15,000 yen tag.

Newtype and Comptiq September '09 Issues

Today I cancelled my Japanese bank account and the mobile phone. Now I only need to return the router and the keys of my room on Thursday morning and I'll be ready to leave Kyoto. So today I did my last purchase here: Newtype September '09 Issue and Comptiq September '09 Issue.


Newtype September '09 Issue is not really interesting for me except for a brief reportage about Sadamoto Yoshiyuki.


But the reason of my purchase is the extra, TYPE-MOON EXTRA:


It includes several pictures and info about the upcoming TYPE-MOON works:

Kara No Kyoukai 7th movie, Satsujin Kousatsu (Go), that premiered on August 8 and I'm unable to see while I'm in Tokyo because of lack of time T_T

The new portraits of Takeuchi and Nasu. Rorschach-Nasu seems very manly now.

The info was filtered days ago; Fate/stay night will have a movie based in Unlimited Blade Works route and will be released on January 23. The animation studio in charge will be Studio DEEN, and the staff will be the same than the TV series. I hope that the man-faced Saber from the pic is not the final design for the movie...

CANAAN. The anime will be only 13 episodes, but 3 movies are announced.

Comptiq September '09 Issue is focused in MELTY BLOOD Actress Again.

The new additions for the PS2 port: Ryougi Shiki, Akiha in school uniform, Neko-Arc Chaos, two new tag teams (Kohaku & Mech-Hisui and Mech-Hisui & Neko-Arc) and the "Boss Rush Mode".

More Kara No Kyoukai. I think the pic with Shiki, Lio and Mikiya spoils way too much the ending...

Info about Mahou Tsukai no Hako, TYPE-MOON's website for mobile phones. My phone model was incompatible with the service, and now that I leave I don't have any chance to visit it.

And a little insert that I suppose is an Animate shop extra. Drawn by Aotsuki Takao, one of the lesser known members from TYPE-MOON, displays Hibino Hibiki and Katsuragi Chikagi from Mahou Tsukai no Hako with the message "Summer is not over yet!", that due my imminent return to Spain I find it kinda ironic...

Comptiq Magazine & Newtype July '09

Today I purchased the July issues of Comptiq and Newtype.


I purchased Comptiq July '09 issue because it came with a Fate/Zero drama cd, but it contains several interesting bits...

CANAAN will begin on July 4th . I have very high expectation of this!

The 3rd volume of Sound Drama Fate/Zero will be released on August 28.

Kizuato re-remake.

I was the 2nd entry in the Leaf Visual Novel Series, released in 1996 and remaked in 2002 with a controversial change in the character designs. This version seems to be close to the original release and includes a new character, the maid Takasago Rikka.

Dream C Club, a iM@S wannabe that I would like to buy if I had an XBox.

The XBox 360 survives in Japan thanks to this kind of games. Since the exclusivity of THE iDOLM@STER is fading away (first with THE iDOLM@STER SP for the PSP and now the recently announced THE iDOLM@STER Dearly Stars for the Nintendo DS) if this game fails with the expectation, it can be the end of the Xbox...

I must admit that I never played any of Key games besides Planetarian. Mostly because I strongly dislike the drawing style of Hinoue Itaru (and to a lesser degree, I also dislike Na-Ga's one) but also because as a Leaf fan I subconsciously feel a childish animosity against "their rivals".

Newtype July '09 issue was focused in the incomming Eva movie Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, on theaters the 27 of this month.

Remarking that Asuka name is now Shikinami Asuka Langley, sharing the same "波" with Ayanami.

An unhealthily thin Misato in the news casting service for PS3 and the new PSP game.

It included an Asuka t-shirt.

Is a cheap, Japanese sized (=small) t-shirt, and the print surely will fade after a couple of washes but hey, it was an extra in a 780 yen magazine after all.

The upcoming Umineko no Naku Koro ni anime, that will begin on July the 1st.

I'm curious on how they will resolve the meta world, the colored lines and all those "tricky" battles (Virgilia vs Beato, Rudolf vs Belphegor...). By the way, in the photo Kinzo and Gouda were killed by a flash burn...

The chapter of the somewhat new season of Suzumiya Haruhi.

I watched it and I didn't found it very interesting...I think the long wait and the viral marketing campaigns from Kadokawa killed the franchise...

K-ON! , right now the most popular anime of the late night shift.
Is the only anime that I'm following at the moment. I began watching it because I was intrigued of why Mio is so popular... Now Azusa seems to be also very popular, but I prefer Tsumugi.
