Update 2: Doujinshi & Manga

Following my one year update, this entry covers manga and doujinshi.

MANGA

I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff, for example right after I took the photos I remembered I bought a few English manga published by Udon (3 Capcom anthologies by Itou Mami, Street Fighter 5 and 6 and  Darkstalkers 2) that are not in the photos. The rest (or at least the rest I remember) are:

The extremely delayed Kannagi 7 by Takenashi Eri (volume 6 was released in November '08), limited and regular editions of Evangelion 13 by Sadamoto (one more to go), a new volume of All Around Type-Moon manga by Bsuke, Fate/Extra volume 3 by Robina, regular edition of volume 3, 4 and 5 of Fate/Zero by Shinjiro, Fate/Kaleid Liner Prism☆Illya 2wei! Vol. 5 (last one from 2wei series) and the first volume from Prism☆Illya 3wei!! by Hiroyama Hiroshi,  Fate/stay night volume 18 to 20 by Nishiwaki Datto (finished at last!), volumes 1 and 2 of Love Plus Manaka Days by Akitsu Mikami (I liked Love Plus quite a bit), Fujima Takuya's Idolm@ster Break! Vol. 2 to 4 (I bought the first volume years ago during my iM@S fever peak), Tenshi no Oshigoto 1 by Satoh Ryoryo (because contains one page collaboration by Takeuchi Takashi) and the ero-manga Fella Pure by Fue.

Spanish edition manga: Takahashi Rumiko's The One Pound Gospel, the last 6 volumes of Inuyasha (completed at last, I had this series on hold for almost 3 years), Sakura Taisen volumes 1 to 9 drawn by Ouji Hiroi (at a bargain price, I bought the whole series for 23 euro) and the two last volumes of Mazinger Z.

I'll skip some stuff here, since the photos I have are only for the items I bought from Comic Market 82 and 83.

Pretty much the works from the circles I regularly follow: Zettai Shoujo, King Revolver, Nurumaya, Kurusugawa Pikumin Tei, Crazy Clover Club, the now defunct circle Konton Lady Studio,  Chotto Dake Aru Yo., Kuroyuki, plus the works from circles that I follow sporadically (mostly when they parody series I like): Lv. X+, Jingai Makyou and Shinjugai.

This is a really late review of the doujinshi received in early march:

In detail:
Kikuta Kouji works (circle King Revolver): Mata Rider-san ni Nukareteru (Rider), Dopyu! to Atsumare Hana no Power (Cure Sunshine from HeartCatch PreCure!), Oppai Kikou (Selvaria from Valkyria Chronicles) and BunnyHo, featuring bunny versions of Rider and Saizaki Minori from the manga Hokenshitsu no Shinigami.

Milk Angels 1 by Kakyouin Chiroru from circle Kuro Yuki. Is the follow up of his previous titles Milk Hunters and Milk Masters, but this time moving on to the cast of Fresh Precure!

Enikki Recycle 15 compilation of A1 (Initial-G) blog entries and the bonus book Ryuugu Komachi de Dokki Doki, featuring short haired Asuza and Iori from iM@S 2 plus a 3 pages collaboration by Nekoi Mii featuring Miki.

Tsukiwani from Circle Nuruma-ya works; Dai-chan Yaku Mousou, featuring Daiyousei, Rumia and Keine and his first non-ero work Alice no Tanjoubi, starring Alice and Marisa.

T-Moon Complex EX, the latest work by Shirotsumekusa of circle Crazy Clover Club, a bonus calendar and the 4 pages omake book Arcueid Complex 0.1.

This time he didn't had enough time to do his Fate vs. Tsukihime crossover, and did a gag doujinshi of Fate/EXTRA instead. I'm glad about it, because he's much better at gag situations.

Yuzuki N' (circle Lv. X+) stuff. A doujin based in her commercial work Another World called Another Another World and the C79 releases: the Amagami books Watashi no Itoshi no Wanko-kun (featuring Ayatsuji Tsukasa and Morishima Haruka), Soen Rihoko (starring Sakurai Rihoko) and the short and Valkyria Chronicles 3 centered Omake no Rakugaki Hon.

Super Kotori Time Soushuuhen Vol. 1 from circle Konton Lady Studio. This circle is formed by two artists Tee (drawings) and DIT (story) and is focused in IDOLM@STER works. They have another circle, Chaotic Otome Studio, for their non-ero and non-IM@S works.
This is the compilation of their previous works, starring Otonashi Kotori having erotic delusions with the IM@S girls. Tee drawings are really good and his works was in my wishlist for a while, so this compilation was an instant buy.

Takemura Sessyu works from the circle Chotto Dake Aru Yo. I knew the author for his commercial work Take on Me, but it was his first IDOLM@STER doujinshi that caught my attention. Haruka to Chihaya to Producer is, as the name suggest, a competent story about Haruka, Chihaya and Producer. The girls act a bit bitchy for my tastes, but the drawings are good looking. And totally not expected, X is a futanari orgy with Ryo as the special guest. I can tolerate futa in very small doses, so I'm not sure if I want to keep buying Takemura's works...

And Mahou Shoujo Soushuuhen 2 by RAITA from circle Zettai Shoujo. I already bought the previous compilation in 2006, and I patiently awaited for this.
Mahou Shoujo is an original story about a series of magical girls fighting sex fiends. As usual, RAITA's drawings are great and keeps improving.

Valkyria Chronicles

In PlayStation 3 there was only two games that I really wanted to play. One of them was Metal Gear Solid 4 and the other was Valkyria Chronicles.

My brother owns a PS3, but I didn't have a chance to play with it extensively because before my leave to Japan he was living on his own and had the PS3 with him, but now that he left the console in my house I have the chance to play with it.

He already had Metal Gear Solid 4, so at the beginning of November I purchased Valkyria Chronicles via eBay since is now discontinued.


Valkyria Chronicles was in my wishlist when was first released in Japan, because the character designer is Honjou Raita, most known only as RAITA from circle Zettai Shoujo.

RAITA's style is pretty characteristic. His most known trait is to draw extremely slender lolis (borderline anorexic), but he also draws stylized grown-up women with large breasts. He also likes to draw tanks, girls in uniform and hooded women.

Pretty much all of those traits were carried over to the game, and the watercolor style of the graphic engine fits perfectly with RAITA's style.

Is hard to expalin the gameplay without play it. Is turn-based, but you move the characters in real time and you can move them more than once during your turn.
You can control about 50 characters, and each of them is unique, each with his/her own special traits, likes and dislikes. Friends are foes are very likable characters.

Right now I'm almost over with the game (I'm missing to A rank some of the Hard skirmishes) and I can clearly say that is my favorite PS3 game by far, even surpassing MGS4. Is unfortunate that the overall sales of the game have been rather weak...

An anime was aired in spring (I didn't watched it so I can't give an opinion) and a sequel made for the PSP will be released in Japan next month, causing rage among the fans because the PSP is a step down compared with the PS3... It will be released in Europe, so is a compulsory purchase for me.
