1/10 Kisaragi Chihaya & Ganaha Hibiki by Wave

And the last figure review (for now, since I have 6 more figures to review) is a double one, covering 1/10 Kisaragi Chihaya and 1/10 Ganaha Hibiki by Wave, released in November and January respectively under the Beach Queens figure line.

Chihaya sculpt is by Clumsy Zero, who also sculpted Beach Queen Azusa.
Unlike the rest of the Beach Queens THE iDOLM@STER characters, Chihaya uses the swimsuit from the second game. Is not a big deal in Chihaya because she hardly changed from the first game to the second (even keeping the same bust size despite aging one year), but it can be a bit of a problem if Wave keeps releasing iM@S characters (the already released Miki, Azusa and Haruka have all their iM@S 1 designs, and most of the characters that are left are quite different in their iM@S 2 appearance...)

It includes two faces, one smiling and one ashamed. This is the smiling one.

And this is the ashamed. Note that both arms can be moved a little.

Hibiki is sculpted by Abira, who also did Takane figure and Haruka.

Unlike Chihaya that have the problem that is using her newest design, Hibiki (like Takane) uses the same swimsuit in both iDOLM@STER SP and iDOLM@STER 2, so she can represent either continuity.

As usual, it also includes two heads, a winking one...

...and a normal one.

Side view. The only complain that I have is that is too pale! Being Okinawan, Hibiki is the only iM@S girl that is tanned and is not reflected in the figure.

1/10 Amami Haruka & Miura Azusa by Wave

1/10 Amami Haruka and Miura Azusa by Wave were released in May and July respectively, but since both are from the same figure line (Beach Queens series) and both share the same origin (THE iDOLM@STER), I'll review them together.

Haruka is sculpted by Abira, who also did Takane figure. Includes a detachable swim tube and two interchangeable faces:

The overall figure is rather nice, and I like Abira's face sculpts with iM@S characters.
There's only a major flaw in the sculpt; the pose is leaning way too much to the front making it a likely candidate to bend the PVC and be a leaning figure.

Also this pose is not very photogenic outside the strictly front angle.

Azusa sculpt is by Clumsy Zero, based in an official illustration by Annin Doufu:


It includes two faces, a normal one and a smiling with the eyes shut one. Perhaps the forehead and cheeks are a bit too wide in my opinion...

The pareo is made of transparent rubber and can be detached.

And true to the character, she have a really nice body.

1/10 Hoshii Miki by Wave

Along with Saber and Sakura, I also purchased 1/10 Hoshii Miki by Wave.

Surprisingly, there are not many completed models based in iM@S characters. There are 2 versions of Miki by Max Factory (I have the blond version), the elusive Miura Azusa in wedding dress by Good Smile Company and the ugly faced Brilliant Stage collection by Megahouse.

This is my third iM@S figure and is already my second Miki figure, despite being one of my least favorite characters (mostly because is non playable in The IDOLM@STER SP and her intelligence seems to be downgraded for that port).

The sculpt is by Hokusoh, and displays a cheerful Miki doing a kira pose dressed with her bikini.
The face seems way, way off for some reason; compared with the original artwork, the cheeks are too edgy shaped and the space between the eyes and mouth is too wide... Again, I don't like Miki as a character that much and perhaps I'm biased here, but I still prefer the Max Factory version by far.

There's extra hair parts to display her as awakened Miki, with short brown hair. I prefer the blond version.

Wave already announced Haruka and Azusa in the Beach Queens series, so it's seems that all the girls will be released.

1/10 Matou Sakura by Wave

And to complete the trio of heroines from Fate, I also purchased 1/10 Matou Sakura by Wave.

Like Rin, the sculpt is by Okumura Yukio (circle the poppy puppet) and also is displaying her Fate/hollow ataraxia bikini.
Sakura is the least reproduced character in PVC figures out of the main heroines, and half of the time is with that bikini...

Again like Rin, the face is not 100% faithful to the character but is not really bad. The hand in front of her face seems oddly shaped in the pictures, but is cutely bended. The overall pose is very Sakura-ish, so I can't complain.

It would be nice if Wave releases all the other girls that also appeared in swimsuit in Fate/hollow ataraxia: Rider, Illya, Sella and Leysritt. Rider and Illya in bikini are plausible because there are already figures of them (even 2 versions in the case of Rider), but sadly Sella and Leys chances are zero to none.

1/10 Saber by Wave

A bit late to do the reviews of the last batch of figures that I received at the beginning of this month because of an unexpected return to my job as a postman...

The first one is 1/10 Saber by Wave.

Like the previously released Rin, is part of the Beach Queens Treasure Figure Collection, so is wearing her Fate/hollow ataraxia bikini.

The sculpt is by the veteran Ogawa Yozo, inspired by this illustration by Takeuchi displaying an unusual Saber with her hair down.
The face is a bit too roundish and is not the best looking Saber by Ogawa, but I think is more a problem of the small scale of the figure rather than a sculptor's fault.

Alternately, you can display Saber with her usual bun.

Like the previous Queens Treasure Figures, the quality is good for the price (available right now for less than 3,000 yen at AmiAmi), but lacking when compared with full priced figures

1/10 Shijou Takane by Wave

The other figure that I received along Rin is 1/10 Shijou Takane by Wave, sculpted by Abira.

Shijou Takane is one of the two new idols in iDOLM@STER SP, and became my favorite idol as soon as I started to play. Takane is very mature for her age (17) and was raised to be the perfect ojou-sama without being two-faced, a tsundere or act like an spoiled brat.

As part of Beach Queens Treasure Figure Collection, is wearing the same swimsuit that uses in the game, the "Gravure mizugi". Is a classical skirted swimsuit with polka dots. With the silver hair gives her a bit of "granny fashion", but Takane already talks and behaves old fashioned.

She holds the sandals behind her back. The sandals are actually loose and hangs in the fingers.

She comes with two interchangeable faces: an open mouthed smile and an embarrassed smile. The open mouthed smile one doesn't look very good in the photos because the color of the mouth is too pale...

And this is the shy smile face. It looks cute, but I prefer the other one.

1/10 Tohsaka Rin by Wave

Yesterday I received 2 figures, the first of them is 1/10 Tohsaka Rin by Wave.

If I recall correctly, this is the first time I purchase something made by Wave. The quality is not bad; the sculpt and paint job are good, but the size (about 16 cm, a head taller than a Figma) make it more similar to a trading figure than a proper figure... that is why the price is only half of the "normal" price range for figures.

The sculpt is by Okumura Yukio (circle the poppy puppet). Is not the best face I saw in a figure of Rin, but is not bad either.

The neck is jointed, so the head can move a little (albeit the poseability is very limited by the hair).

Since is part of the Beach Queens Treasure Figure Collection, Tohsaka is wearing her Fate/hollow ataraxia bikini.

The figures in the Beach Queens lines can swap heads, so this is Rin in Shijou Takane's swimsuit. I think I like her more in this rather conservative swimsuit than in her own...
